Projects

01/07/2006-30/06/2007

Phytochemical screening and pharmacological evaluation of stem bark of Gmelina Arborea as potent anti-diabetic in alloxan Induced diabetic rats.

During this project, I worked on the isolation, identification, and characterization of several biologically active phytoconstituents using techniques like column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, U.V. spectroscopy, I.R. spectroscopy, and various qualitative tests. I also evaluated the standardized extracts of stem bark of Gmelina arborea for antidiabetic activity using alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The findings of the project showed similar chemical constituents and antidiabetic activity as that present in the roots of plants due to the presence of flavone glycosides.

Research Interests

  • A new approach to study mechanisms, synthesize, and formulate Antibiotics that can block the breakdown of the cell wall so that they can be trapped, which eventually inhibits them from growing or expanding.

  • Finding mechanisms and discovering new formulations of Cannabinoids in treating Epilepsy and other neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Discovery, Neuroscience, Natural Products, Interdisciplinary Research, Applied Health, and other Pharmaceutical Science Research.
